The Busanga hydropower station is located on the Lualaba River in Katanga Province in the southern region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The Luaraba River is a tributary of the source of the Congo River. The dam site is located about 1.30 kilometers upstream of the Luaraba River gorge outlet. The four steps of the power station are planned for the river section of the Luaraba Gorge. The plant is located approximately 410 km from Lubenbasi, the capital of Katanga Province, and 70 km as the crow flies from Koluvec City, where the R610 road from Koluvec to Busanga passes by the left bank of the dam site. Installed capacity of 240 megawatts, the dam 141.5 meters high, the dam body is arranged with two flood discharge bottom holes, two overflow surface holes. It generates 1.32 billion KWH of electricity annually, accounting for 10% of the DRC's total electricity generation.
